Castle Scholars Study Abroad Scholarship

This scholarship is open to participants in a Harper College Faculty-Led Study Abroad program.
  • Priority will be given to students applying to a program that is going to a country within the designated Global Region of Focus.
  • Demonstrated financial need and priority to students from under- served populations
  • Completed at least two semesters of study at Harper College
  • 3.0 Harper College GPA (if Cumulative GPA is lower than 3.0, students who received a 3.0 GPA the previous semester can be considered.
  • Students enrolled in a degree-seeking program with preference to students that will transfer to a four-year college or degree.
 
WorldView Study Abroad Fund

This scholarship is open to Harper students participating in a Harper College study abroad program to countries in the developing world. The scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated financial need.
 
John W. Davis Spanish Travel Scholarship
This scholarship is warded to students who will participate in a study abroad program to a Spanish-speaking country. In order to apply, You MUST be enrolled in the study abroad program during the semester in which you will receive this award or you will not receive the award in its entirety.

Location/Area Scholarships
Freeman Asia
The Freeman Foundation provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia (Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam). The program's goal to increase the number of Americans with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures.
Eligibility:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Applied or have been accepted to a study abroad program
  • Demonstrated financial need
Application Deadline: October 12 for spring programs, February 15 for summer programs, April 1 for fall and academic year programs

Bridging Scholarships
This scholarship is awarded to American undergraduate students participating in study abroad programs in Japan for a semester or an academic year.
Eligibility:
  • Study in Japan
Application Deadline: vary annually (see website for exact dates)
NSEP (Boren) Scholarships
Boren Scholarships provide for U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study aborad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.
Eligibility:
  • U.S. citizen
  • Study in non-traditional location
Application Deadline: Annual deadline in February

Need-Based Scholarships
Gilman International Scholarship
Up to $8,000
This scholarship aims to diversify and expand participation in international study by awarding grants to undergraduates who have been traditionally underrepresented in education abroad.

Eligibility:
  • Pell grant recipient
  • US citizen
Application Deadline: October 1 for spring programs, March 1 for summer and fall programs
